Happy Europe Day! Together, companies, groups, institutions and selected personalities are promoting Europe Day. Here you can find out how you can be part of it.

After the success of 2023, we are now moving forward with new ideas and partners

The principle is simple: All partners of the ‘Happy Europe Day!’ initiative display this phrase using their individual capabilities. In 2021, when the campaign was launched in Germany, it appeared for a few days on all the checkout slips of a major supermarket chain, and was visible on stadium banners and train station displays, among other things. In 2023, the initiative also took place for the first time in France, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland and the Czech Republic. Before the European elections in 2024, the phrase is set to appear in even more European countries.

FAQ

In order for Europe to move forward, it needs attention. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a day only for Europe? A day that we’re thankful that Europe exists. Still being critical and naming what’s yet to improve. But most of all a day on which we’re thinking about how we want to proceed. Together, united in diversity. The good news: Europe Day already exists! Unfortunately it’s not widely recognized. We want to change that by creating a new ritual! With the phrase: ‘Happy Europe Day!’. In 2021 and 2023, we already got started with lots of great partners. Now we want to set an even bigger example in 2024! Join us in wishing ‘Happy Europe Day!’

Anyone can participate. Private individuals and associations, companies and organizations, celebrities and institutions.

In 2023, just in time for the 60th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty, the initiative took place for the first time in France and other European countries in addition to Germany. In the year of the European elections in 2024, the campaign will then take place in as many European countries as possible.

The non-profit and non-partisan organization Tu was für Europa (Do something for Europe), founded in March 2019, is responsible for the initiation of the campaign. It takes over the organization and networking, but takes a back seat in public communication, as the focus should be on the different participants with their diverse approaches and ideas. The campaign relies on the participants to use their own channels and possibilities to spread the common message as far as possible. Each participant is therefore also responsible for their own content and actions. Tu was für Europa is an association registered in Germany. Its chairman is the former President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, and its vice-chairman is Franziska Brantner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. Monika Grütters, former Minister of State for Culture and the Media, is the patron of the association, and the chairman of the advisory board is Alexander Graf Lambsdorff. In 2023, the campaign also took place in France and other European countries for the first time in addition to Germany, with Tu was für Europa sharing sponsorship with the Centre mondial de la Paix, des Libertés et des Droits de l’Homme in Verdun.

Tu was für Europa motivates and initiates the initiative and supports the participants if necessary. In addition, the initiative documents as many of the actions as possible and bundles them in its press work. The spreading of the phrase is the task of the participants. We are of course glad if you mention Tu was für Europa in your work and inform us about your participation.

No. Every participation is a valuable contribution. The association is the initiator, networker and platform of the campaign. For this work we rely on resources and are therefore always happy to receive (voluntary) financial contributions.

Of course. With your donation, you help strengthen the pro-European consensus and support commitment to Europe.

Be part of the campaign! If you have any questions just send us an email.
